I was born in Fresno, CA and raised in the North Bay by a strong and loving single mother. All throughout elementary school I was more focused on creativity than academics. I did well in school but my mind was always wandering to what I could draw, paint or just create in general. In 6th grade my teacher Mrs. Medvin, along with my mother, really encouraged my creativity. They noticed that I fell in love with art and would buy me supplies and allow me plenty of time during the day to create. I haven’t looked back since.
Throughout junior high and high school I continued to create but there wasn’t any structure to what I was doing, I had yet to find myself in the world of art and design. I quit my job as an arborist and went on a mission to follow my dreams. I started taking design classes and slowly built a client list. For the next 4 years, I freelanced and although I struggled to pay my bills, I was on the right path.
In 2013, I met Brandt Hoekenga, an experienced designer and owner of TIV Branding. He quickly became more than a boss but a friend and a mentor. Working at his agency for nearly 7 years gave me experience in all aspects of graphic design. I wasn’t just focused on one brand or one company, it was a revolving door of projects that varied vastly from one to another.
Outside of work I’m still creating. I love to paint and draw. I also love listening to and creating music. I compose when I have the time and one of my favorite places to be is sitting in front of my piano, this is where I can wholly be myself and be at peace.
